Rimac Nevera: The Worst and Best supercar ever built.

RIMAC ( pronounced as ‘rimats’) has been working on this beast for about a decade. The Electric supercar is the evolved production version of Concept2 and gets its name from the extremely powerful Croatian Mediterranean storms. A brainchild of Mate Rimac, the $2.4 million car competes with the likes of the Tesla Roadster and the Pininfarina Battista.

Yes, you heard it right, it’s the WORST and the BEST. Let me explain why.

This is the best electric car ever built.

The car can shoot from 0 to 60mph in just 1.85 seconds, 0 to 100mph in 4.3 seconds. The Nevera can reach up to 186mph in just 9.3 s which is faster than an F1 race car. Launch the car without holding your head on to the headrest, and you might break your neck.

The Nevera has a 120kWh lithium/manganese/nickel battery with 6960 cells to power the best electric drive train and torque vectoring technology ever built. Designed completely from scratch by Rimac, it gives you a 340-mile range and can charge in just 18 freaking minutes when plugged into a 500kW charger.

If that isn't enough, the car has Rimac’s All-Wheel Torque Vectoring 2 (R-AWTV 2) which calculates about 100 times per second how much toque to channel to each wheel. You can also adjust the amount of torque you want to pass on to the front and rear axle using dials. Simply put, the Nevera can give you a comfort mode and the next second become a track monster, with an AI coach to help you with your track skills. I think the coolest part is the drift mode for those who would love to bun some rubber.

The Nevera is like the car version of Keanu Reeves. It’s perfect. but it’s not.

Rimac Nevera is the worst supercar.

This is not only about Nevera but also every other sports car manufacturer that is getting into the EV space. Supercars are not like regular cars, they are built to play with. But that can’t be done with electric cars. The feeling of V12 banging behind your back thousands of times each second, the loud roar when you push the throttle, the exhilaration of having a perfect shift, is what makes a car a SUPERCAR.

The Nevera has great numbers, with the highest horsepower and torque, with lowest acceleration times but how far are the number really relevant. We have reached 0 to 60mph in sub 2 seconds, how much more do we need ?? Most people will never even be able to take these cars to the limits due to lack of the right driving conditions.

With the rise of electric cars, almost every car manufacturer is planning to build electric cars. Some have announced that they will now only focus on EV’s. They seem to be competing with each other on the number game, which is stupid. It was never about the numbers, but the experience. Car guys are still crazy about the ’69 Ford Mustang, because of the story and legacy it brings with it.

We have got the point, electric cars can be great. In terms of power and capability, they are no longer behind. They can be beautiful and great to drive but the problem is they just aren’t as fun as internal combustion engines. These EV technologies look great for an everyday car that is good for the environment and is convenient to drive. A Tesla Model 3 is great when I want to drop my daughter for her school, but when I am on the track they just arent as cool. They just don't give you an experience that the IC engine cars can give (even though Rimac tried really hard to do it). The electric drive train tech is great for regular cars, not supercars.

What Rimac has built is truly breathtaking, their tech is awesome. I just think I can do much better with $2.4 million.
